The Arena (DbtS online multiplayer match roster)

Every now and then people are looking for active players to fight against in DbtS Multiplayer. To make it easier for everyone to find some sparring partners (or victims  ) i made this thread. Use it to announce that you are interrested in matches and to coordinate those.

You can also find opponents to play with in IRC channel #DieByTheSword in QuakeNet network.

HowTo

Internet matches can be played over the internet via the TCP/IP network option.

To host a game you may have to open several ports in your NAT router or firewall.
Multiplayer DBTS uses DirectPlay 7 for networking. If one is behind a NAT router and wants to host a game then they require to port forward DirectPlay 7 ports (range 2300-2400 plus 47624). However some NAT routers are not capable of forwarding port ranges. It is still possible to host games behind a NAT router with only 3 or 4 ports forwared (instead of the 2300-2400 range). The ports needed are TCP 2300, UDP 2350, & TCP/UDP 47624. This assumes this is the only DirectPlay 7 game running.

Hamachi may be used, but is not necessarily required to play over the internet. You don't have all the hassle with ports when using Hamachi. Also the search for open games should work, thus you don't need to know the IP of the host to connect to his open session.

[EDIT] Updated with networking information supplied by andrewwan1980.

Thank you to the admins now I can post!

Yes, I been looking for Die By The Sword community websites and (besides TreyArch's site & forums), this (Hazardous Mod) is the ONLY Die By The Sword community website I've found so far with google.

I know it's a Mod site, but it's the closest thing for a DBTS site.

It's so hard finding other DBTS players online to play with, not to mention DBTS is not supported in any big-named GameBrowsers (GameSpy3D, GameSpyArcade, XFire, Kali, etc).... so am not surprised at the difficulty of finding other players.

But hopefully there's some players out there.

Has anyone successfully tried out the instructions at:

http://logmeinwiki.com/wiki/Hamachi:Die_By_The_Sword?

Just curious whether it works from country to country, etc.

Please note: you do not need Hamachi to play over the internet (assuming you can port forward 4 ports).

Read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_by_the ... patibility for the port numbers to forward.

Only the server needs to port forward (assuming not using Hamachi), clients don't need to port forward. Playing without Hamachi should be generally faster since there's no VPN overhead.

Also, Limb From Limb installation seems to improve gameplay lag issues. It was very laggy with original DBTS.

[Question] Is Hamachi required to play DbtS over the internet? I'm not able to check right now since DbtS doesn't run for me. Please post how to set up a DbtS online game so that i may include a little "How to" in this posting.

No, Hamachi is not required IF & ONLY IF the host/server can portforward on his NAT router. If the host/server is on 56k modem or direct connection to internet (ie. no router) then he can host/server games too without Hamachi.

TCP 2300, 47624
UDP 2350, 47624

ports needed forwarding

tested by me with some guy in France (and me in UK). good ping, virtually no lag.
