I got the message that my version of Dbts is unknown so I'm reporting the CRC code: -565628769.

I have version 1.04 PL (Polish), it's without Limb from Limb expansion.

Hi. At the moment only the english version with Limb from Limb is suppoted. It is unlikely that any other version will ever be supported.

Re: Die by the Sword - Xtended v1.5.0

As promised: New year, new update! :D A bit late, though... but better late than never! My plans were too ambitious, as always, postponing the next release further and further away. But i could finally convince myself to drop some features to finally get a new release out.

IMPORTANT:
In the meantime new development tools were released, and with them came new requirements! Those are pretty common, so some of you might have installed them already, but it won't hurt to run them again if you're not sure.

You'll have to install the following updates:
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)
- Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0
- And you should also Update your DirectX

Also quite important: The mod system has changed. You won't be able to use old mods with the ModManager anymore. Mods need to be updated to show up in the manager again. Below is a link to the new version of my mod pack.

With this sorted out, here's the nice stuff:

DOWNLOAD DbtS Xtended v1.5.0

I also recommend you to get the new version of my ModPack and i've also uploaded a repack of the Cusspack that is compatible with the new ModManager.

Changes in Xtended v1.5.0:
general changes:
- Replaced all rendering calls and world-to-screen calculations of the game with new ones, fixing the inaccurate display of geometry the original game had.
- Added a fancy new dynamic lighting system (toggle on/off in the xLauncher or by pressing F11)
- All textures (including animated ones) are loaded in 32bit quality now.
- Added Quicksave: Press F5 at any time during the quest to save the game.
- New mod system. Mods need to be updated to show up in the mod manager again.

new features for modders:
- Added Filesystem option to the xLauncher, allowing you to select how the game should load files. You can for example set it to prefer files on disk over packed ones to make it easier to fiddle with game data.
- Added support for custom gametypes that will show up in the arena options.
- Added support for a new levelinfo.xml level description file, which replaces all other files to describe a level when used (like the .lst, .ter and most .evt files)
- Added new architecture for mod creation and installation. It's much easier to use and doesn't modify any original DbtS data files on mod installation.
- Added support for a new .dmod filetype for easy mod distribution.

And here are some comparison screenshots, first without and then with dynamic lighting:

On this shot you can nicely see how the light from the fire projects onto the character.

And here you can see how dramatic the light can affect the mood of a scene, when the Lavapit is only lit through the lava's glow.

.....and the long-awaited dream of some user-friendly map editor...?

I know it is much to ask, I do not deny that. But that could help boosting the community really much.

Yes, i've been talking about a new level editor for years. I spent some work on it while working on the current Xtended version, but the Xtended release had priority.
Also some of those features dropped from the current Xtended version were things i had planned to allow the editor to do some awesome things in levels that weren't possible before. But i guess i'll also drop them from the editor for now and instead polish it up for a release without those features. This way i can finally get the editor done and work on those additional features later on. Doing too much at once just delays things.

Another thing left out form the current Xtended version is the new VB.Net scripting engine. To be accurate, it actually IS included in the release and works pretty amazingly well, but it is not yet completed and is missing MANY of those original scripting functions. It's rather time consuming to figure all of them out and include them in the new engine. Thus it is by no means in a state to be publicly promoted and used. Yet, it is used for some small things already like adding the Fireball to the Orc Shaman in the arena, teaming the Screamer chars up together in one group no matter which team they were assigned to, and to control the camera on the "Battlefield" map when the player dies.

Hello all...

I'm sorry to disturb you all, and to post in this quite empty topic, but I have a problem.

When I try to play the Xtended version of the game, all I can do is... Obviously to look at the main menu. If I click anything, an error occurs, saying me that something can't be opened or whatever...

"Exception : Couldn't open F:\die\\data\stencils.atd" when I try a quest, tournament ect except the training, which lead me to the same message but with trainer instead of stencils, I think.

I really want to play this game, but I can't ! I tried the demo and it's great.

It's wierd, because if I play the NORMAL version of the game, it works perfectly.

Please help me !

Would anyone be able to post Die by the Sword - Xtended to another download host with Resume support (Mediafire or something)?
I can't seem to download the app without the transfer shutting down after about 10% progess :\

I think dialup is to blame *Groan*

I love this mod, and i love that it works! (at least so far).
And ive noticed you know how to do stuff so i might as well ask.
Since im very keen on making new textures for the models in game, like an HD pack of some sort.
But the thing is that i have no idea how to unpack the files and compile, so im pretty much stuck, How do i do it? where can i read about it?
